The paintings remind us of  overexposed photographs, which yield the image only after getting accustomed to the light- as if stepping out of a dark room. With this technique I want to emphasize the awareness of the finitude of things and the disappearance of my familiar environment. These images are neither realistic nor abstract. They are faded memories, not vague but diffuse as a soft background feeling that makes me happy , only it is not visible anymore. The melancholy of ruined towns in the desertsand have inspired me. Within these series I researched a new painting method by simplifying my technique. Unlike previous works I painted in single layers . I determined the direction of the layers of paint hatching and crosshatching beforehand. I also varied the boundaries and density of the crosshatching and experimented with the possibility of combining this with aspects of my old technique. I put a dense layer of paint on top of the hatching permitting the lines to shine through vaguely.  On the one hand it makes the image fade but on the other hand it adds depth.
